GINISANG UPO (ILOCANO STYLE)









Hi Guys! Baldskiy here. This is my first blog and I hope you will love my first how to cooking tutorial. Today, I will teach you on how to cook 'Ginisang Upo" or Saute Bottle guard. Are you ready?


First, we need to prepare our ingredients:


  • 1 Medium sized upo ( bottle gourd), peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 pork belly
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 ginger, chopped
  • 5 tablespoon of bagoong (fish sauce)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoon cooking oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
Now that we already have our ingredients. Lets start cooking!

  1.  First, heat the cooking oil in a deep pan.
  2. Once, the oil and the pan is hot, saute onion, ginger and garlic until it turn golden brown.
  3. Add the pork belly, saute for 2-5 minutes. Make sure the meat turn to light brown.
  4. Sprinkle about half a teaspoon of ground black pepper.
  5. Add the upo
  6. Pour in the bagoong (fish sauce)
  7. Add 1/2 cup of water
  8. Add salt to tast
  9. Wait for 4-6 minutes until the vegetable and the meat is well cooked.
  10. Once it is cook Transfer to a serving bowl.
  11. Serve. Share and enjoy eating.
